[ shakes his hands in the air expressively and turns sideways so he can face her properly ]

I know!! Isn't it horrible, how time... passes. Normally. It's so slow. I don't know how people manage.

[folds arms]

You're spoiled.

Why, I resent that tone! But... yes, I most definitely am.

[ grins and nudges her side ]

[sways a little and looks back to the camp]

Just you wait, something'll come along again. We're never more than a couple days without something happening. I think this lot'd go mad if it was always adventure and excitement.

[crossmyhearts]

They don't know what they're missing, then. Must been having all the wrong sort of adventures.

[ leans back, taking a glance at the night sky ] You know, I have absolutely no idea where we are right now.

[recurred]

[boy you have no idea]

[actually her adventures with him don't always go 100 percent well either]

[looks up with him]

In the universe? Not even a little bit?

[crossmyhearts]

[ shakes his head ]

I know every star, every planet, every galaxy in the universe... I couldn't tell you the name of a single star in the sky right now. Which means we are either in a completely unknown planet which is impressive in itself, or-- this, these are all new stars. A brand new sky.

[recurred]

[looks between the sky and him a moment]

Is that possible?

[crossmyhearts]

Yes. No. What is possible anyway? The universe, universes even, are full of impossible things. Impossible happens all the time, more often than you'd think.

[recurred]

Then it's really not impossible, just more improbable.

[shrugs]

[she's seen a hell of a lot out here, but traveling with him has kept her a bit more open minded about things]

And this place really likes improbable.

[crossmyhearts]

[ looks from the stars and down at her, arches his eyebrows ]

I like that word... Improbable. Improbable things, improbable stars. [ improbable people too. ]

[recurred]

Improbable circumstances. [looks away from him]

You know all these people are from different Earths too, most of 'em anyway. It's not a coincidence. Can't be. [takes a breath like she's working up to a tough question. something that's been on her mind for a while now]

If there are multiple universes, does that mean there are multiple versions of us? Doing different stuff in each of 'em?

[crossmyhearts]

A good question. Did you know there's a theory, later on disproved of course, that says that anything that can happen will happen, if not in this universe then in another one. But that's just silly because that would imply an infinite number of universes, and nothing... nothing is infinite. Well, almost nothing, but most certainly not universes.

You see, we are so small, that the universe, in our eyes, seems limitless. While there is, in fact, an edge to our universe, there must also be a limited number of universes in existence, constantly contracting and expanding, changing, and therefore that means there is a limited number of things that could happen.

Anyway. [ shakes a hand as if to clear his mind. not that ever works that well, it's always a mess in there ]It's more than likely to be at least one more version of us... somewhere out there. Maybe in another reality there is a Clara whom I never got to meet. Or a Clara in a place where there is no Doctor.

[recurred]

[she can make peace with that, it doesn't explain everything, but it's an excuse she can take.]

[grows quiet for a moment as she thinks, reconsiders, and puts it off again. looks at him with that normal nonchalance once again]

You taking up watch with me tonight?

Of course. Can't have you stay here by yourself all night, now can I?
