Potentially less sinkable than ships. Horrible in a storm, but I'm sure we'd be fine.

Less sinkable than boats unless it spans two continents in which case it makes no damn sense and is, once again, really unsound or the map is wrong and if our luck holds and there's something that wants to eat us, our only options are forward and back.
